Treating post-traumatic stress disorder: confronting the horror. Found this information from the NZ Herald helpful and it agrees with my no drugs approach to healing. I found the gradual approach to prolonged exposure helpful. Having a supportive group, plenty of up-to-date information, and a friend to share with who was able to listen, validate and believe; these were essential pieces of the healing process for me. Also having a secure, safe, stable environment was conducive to opening up and healing the old wounds.
